About the role
We are a small independent brokerage advising on mortgages and protection, and we are looking for one part time intern. This is not a shadowing placement. You will handle live enquiries, prepare real case files and speak to real clients, all under supervision, because that is how you learn this business quickly.
It suits someone considering a career in property finance or financial advice who wants to test that properly before committing to it. No experience in the industry is required.
What you will do
- Take first contact with new enquiries, qualify them and book them into an adviser's diary
- Follow up leads from events, referrals and social media so nothing goes cold
- Prepare and package case files, chase documents and keep the case system up to date
- Research lender criteria and protection products ahead of client meetings
- Support our client events, from the invitation list on the way in to the follow up on the way out
- Help with marketing: social content, newsletters and client education material
- Assist with compliance basics, including file checks and record keeping
- Sit in on client meetings where the client agrees, then write up the notes and actions
What we are looking for
Attitude over CV. No property or finance experience needed, and we have no interest in where you went to school.
- Some sales or customer facing experience: retail, hospitality, phone work and fundraising all count
- Confident on the phone and comfortable meeting people at networking events
- Clear written and spoken communication
- Organised and accurate, able to hold several things at once
- Willing to ask a direct question rather than quietly guess
- Trustworthy with confidential client information
- The right to work in the UK
What you will get
- Support towards CeMAP, the industry standard qualification for UK mortgage advisers, once you have proved yourself in the role
- Real exposure to a case from first enquiry through to completion, on both the mortgage and protection sides
- Direct access to qualified advisers and to the founder, rather than a training queue
- Commercial skills that transfer anywhere: lead handling, client conversation, follow up and pipeline discipline
- Hours agreed around study or another job
- A reference that means something, and an honest conversation about where you should go next
Where it leads
Month one is induction, systems, compliance basics and product knowledge, with an adviser alongside you. Month two you take ownership of your own enquiry follow up and case preparation.
From month three, if the fit is right on both sides, we support your CeMAP study with materials, structured time and someone to answer the questions the textbook does not. Qualified, that opens the door to a trainee adviser role with us, or to the wider market with real experience behind you. The route is earned, not automatic.
How to apply
Apply through the form on this site. It takes about ten minutes and you will need your CV. We read every application ourselves and aim to come back to everyone within ten working days, including the people we are not taking forward.
If your application fits, there is an informal conversation of about thirty minutes, then a second meeting with the adviser you would work alongside. We do not set unpaid test projects.
